Obituary of Lita Saldarini

Lita Saldarini, 93, of Belvidere, NJ and previously of Fort Lee, NJ passed away peacefully on April 4, 2020 at The Chelsea at Brookfield assisted living facility in White Township, NJ. Lita was born on October 19, 1926 in New York, NY to the late Ferdinando and Helen Berutti. As a young girl she was raised in Union City, NJ. In her early teens, her family moved back to Manhattan and this would be the beginning of her life- long love of New York City. After her high school graduation, Lita worked as a clerk on the Manhattan Project at Columbia University. She eventually landed a job as a secretary at the Manhattan headquarters of General Motors. Due to her diligence and excellent organizational skills, Lita eventually found herself working with the most influential executives at GM, reaching the title of Executive Secretary to the General Council. She retired after 40 years of service and enthusiastically began the next phase of her life. Lita married Joe Saldarini on November 4, 1961 and they spent 54 wonderful years together until his passing in 2015. They resided in the Bronx, New York and moved to Fort Lee, NJ in 1979. Upon retirement, Lita and Joe embarked on many adventures that took them to nearly every continent in the world. Some of their most memorable journeys included trips in the United States, Canada, Europe, Africa, South America, India, China, Russia, Japan, Israel, and Egypt. Lita will be remembered and missed by her large extended family including her beloved brother Alfred Berutti and sister-in-law Victoria; niece Anita Smith, her husband Allen and their children Lauren, Amy, Hunter, Alanna; nephew Victor Berutti, his wife Barbara and their children Jimmy, Michael, Julia; nephew Ronald Berutti and his children Declan, Niav Ciara; nephew Steven Berutti, his wife Anne and their children Dylan and Ryan.
