Obituary of Sherri Theriault

Sherrie Theriault, 56, of Port Murray, NJ passed away peacefully on April 22, 2020 at Hunterdon Medical Center. Sherrie was born on October 12, 1963 In New Brunswick, NJ to the late Robert Rainey and Edwina Jenkins. Sherrie was raised in Kendall Park and lived in Cornell Heights before moving to Washington NJ in 1985. She worked as a bus driver for lost children, she was a writer of children's books and adult fiction. She also worked as a counselor of abused women and was devoted to Art, Humanity and the good fight. Sherrie came into my life and fell in love with me at first sight. I grew to admire her and described her as the most fragile fighter, honest to the bones, knows who you are with one look. An oracle, able to see beyond the sales pitches and game show hosts of this world. She worked hard to grow her understanding of who she is and to grow the people around her. I got to know what the true meaning of love is giving someone else the space, resources, encouragement to evolve. Being with Sherrie made that statement come true. I gave her the Beatles and James Taylor and she gave me a mirror to see myself we both became better people. I gave each other space and she started writing. I gave here laughter and tears and she gave me laughter and tears. I cared for her and she cared for me. She loved driving and drove a bus for children that had lost their way. While she drove, she accepted them and got them to respect her. Playing Spanish lessons on the way to school. Parents insisted; she was the driver they wanted. She loved to drive a stick through NYC, she just loved that. I used to ride while she told stories taking her eyes of the street and just cruise through the city. She loved to laugh, to write, and has published many books. Above all she has taught countless woman how to shed past abuse and become less self-destructive. Teaching true freedom to so many. She is survived by her loving husband of 35 years Matthew; her mother Winnie and step father Walter; Step son Justin Ladd and countless women that she saved. She will be missed for generations. Due to public gathering restrictions, services will be announced at a later date.
