Obituary of Francis G. McLaughlin

Francis G. McLaughlin, 94, of Stony Brook, NY and previously of Stewartsville, NJ passed away peacefully on February 11, 2021 at the Long Island State Veterans Home in Stony Brook, NY. Frank was born on August 26, 1926 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Francis and Emma McLaughlin. Frank served his country proudly during World War II in the United States Navy. He was a proud veteran, and served in the Pacific Theatre on the U.S.S. Tucson during the war. He was also a longtime member of the Navy Veteran's Memorial. Frank worked many years as a postal clerk in New York for the United States Postal Service. He was a devout Catholic and was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Washington, NJ. Frank enjoyed working in his garden at home and keeping his yard as neat as can be. He was known to many as a handyman and could fix almost anything and also he had an extensive stamp collection. Frank will always be remembered by his sons, Robert and Richard, for coaching them in little league baseball. He is survived by his son, Richard and Joan, and his children Donna and Meredith. Frank also leaves behind his other son Robert and his wife Monika and their child Thomas, and their grandchildren, Christian, and Emma. In addition to his parents, Frank is predeceased by his loving wife, Dorothy, who passed away in 2017, and his sister Joan. Family and friends may pay their respects on Saturday, February 20, 2021 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Warren Hills Memorial Home. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Washington, NJ. Burial with military honors will immediately follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Washington, NJ.
