Obituary of Herbert F Kling

Herbert F. Kling, 73, of Washington, NJ passed away peacefully on June 2, 2021 at Hunterdon Medical Center. Herb was born on June 7, 1947 to the late Robert M. and Ruth "Fairchild" Kling in Lewisburg, PA. Herbert grew up in Lewisburg, PA graduating from Lewisburg High School class of 1965. He earned his Bachelors and Master's Degrees in Poultry Science at Penn State University and his Ph.D. in Animal Science from Colorado State University. Herb Moved to Washington, NJ in 1973. His long and accomplished career as an Avian Scientist began with Hoechst Roussel. Herb was a scientific consultant for many poultry companies in the US and throughout the world most recently working with Chr. Hansen since 2009. He was a faithful parishioner at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Washington for over 47 years. He carved out his own little piece of paradise on a hillside in Washington adding an orchard, blueberry patch, concord grapes, sweet corn and Christmas trees. This land was home to horses, beef cattle, sheep, chickens and rabbits over the years and the daily work of caring for it gave him joy. He was an avid hunter and also enjoyed fishing and being outdoors. Herb was immensely proud of his children and grandchildren and loved watching them grow. Herbert is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Deborah Kling; Daughters, Jennifer Monarchi and Rebecca Pichetto and her husband Michael; a son, Christopher Kling and his wife Joanna; a sister, Margaret "Peggy" Rahn; stepdaughter, Patricia Phelps; 13 grandchildren, Daniel, Zachary, Hannah, Katrina, Heidi, Kemi, Kelsey, Robert, Josephine, Michael, Alexandra, Nicholas, and Danielle and 1 great grandson, Leonardo. In addition to his parents, Herb was preceded in death by a brother Gerald F. Kling and a stepson Andrew Jacobson. Family and friends may pay their respects on Monday, June 7, 2021 from 10-11 AM at the Warren Hills Memorial Home. 234 W. Washington Ave. Washington, NJ 07882. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Cremation will be private. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Warren Hills Memorial Home.
