Obituary of Lois J Turyonas

Lois J. Turyonas, 93, a lifelong resident of Hampton, NJ passed away peacefully on August 8, 2024 at her home. Lois was born on October 26, 1930 in the family home in Hampton, NJ to the late Earl and Olive "Banghart" Bowlby. She graduated from Hampton High School class of 1948. Lois was employed as a substitute teacher for various schools in the area, including Hampton, Bethlehem, Clinton and Woodglen in Lebanon. She was employed as a teacher for more than 50 years until her retirement in 2010. Her loving husband of 62 years Anthony Turyonas Sr. passed away in 2013. Lois was a longtime parishioner of St. Ann's Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Union Township seniors group. She also greatly enjoyed her card club which was active for many decades. Lois enjoyed baking, cooking and gardening. She was a huge supporter of her son's racing career and particularly enjoyed feeding the pit crew. Lois is survived by her caring son, William Turyonas; a sister in-law, Jeanne Bowlby and a niece and many nephews. She is also survived by her dear friends, whom she considered family Jennifer Bobal and Rosalind Davis. In addition to her husband, Lois was preceded in death by a son Anthony Turyonas Jr and her siblings, Raymond Bowlby, Ernest Bowlby and Elinor Bowlby. Family and friends may pay their respects on Thursday August 15, 2024 from 5-7 PM at the Warren Hills Memorial Home. 234 W. Washington Ave. Washington, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday August 16, 2024 at 11:00 AM at St. Ann's Church. 6 Church St. Hampton, NJ 08827. Interment will follow at the Musconetcong Valley Cemetery.
