Obituary of Steven E. Marvin
Steven Edward Marvin, 69, passed away at St. Luke's Warren Hospital on March 23, 2025, in the comfort of his children and friends. Steve was a beloved father, brother, and colleague who will be immensely missed by all who knew him.
Born in Ft. Collins, CO, on March 29, 1955, Steve was the son of the late Thomas and Alma Marvin (née Draper). Following his graduation from Maine South High School in Park Ridge, IL, Steve traveled extensively, spending several years working in Antarctica, primarily at McMurdo Station. He later settled in Warren County, NJ, where he lived and worked for 27 years – 20 of them as County Administrator – until his retirement in 2019.
Steve was known for his work ethic, foresight, and diligence as a public servant. He was instrumental in the county government’s sale of the publicly-owned Warren Haven nursing home to a private operator, and in reorganizing County government departments to promote greater efficiency, including the creation of a Public Works Department. Upon his passing, Warren County flags were lowered to half-staff in honor of his service.
He is survived by son Andrew; daughter Alena; sisters Jenny (Wayne) Boeckelman (Wayne) and Pamela Larsen; nieces Megan, Colleen, Lindsay, and Courtney; and nephew Bill.
All memorial services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those who wish to honor Steve donate to a charity/organization of their choice.
Additionally, the family would enjoy any recollections about Steve, and requests that they be emailed to atcmarvin@gmail.com.
Steve's family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to all who have offered their love and support during this difficult time.
