William J. Ackerman 84 of Washington Twp passed away peacefully on June 17, 2013
Born: Bill was born on December 26, 1928 in Bangor, PA to the late Melvin and Helen (Beegle) Ackerman
Personal: Bill Graduated from Bangor High School class of 1947. He married the love of his life Marie (Davis) in 1950. He and Marie initially moved to Port Murray in 1950. Bill then served proudly in the US Army and saw action in Korea. After the war he graduated from Penn State University with a degree in mechanical drafting and then became a Draftsman for Ingersoll Rand in Phillipsburg, NJ, retiring in 1993. He later worked as a court attendant for Warren County in Belvidere. Bill enjoyed woodworking, gardening and spending time with family especially his grandchildren. Bill enjoyed sharing his life experiences with Brass Castle Elementary School 6th graders for the past 18 years through the Senior Biography Program.
Memberships: Bill was a life member and past Commander of the VFW Pohatcong Memorial Post 6701. He was also a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 48 in Phillipsburg and the American Legion Mecsey Bishop Post No 456 in Stewartsville.
Survivors: His loving wife of 62 years Marie, a daughter Kristie Taylor and her husband Michael; 2 sons Bruce Ackerman and his wife Laura and Barry W. Ackerman and his wife Nancy; 7 Grandchildren, Janine Ackerman, Ian Ackerman, Randy Ackerman, Corey Taylor, Dana Taylor, Zachariah Ackerman and Kassidy Ackerman. He is predeceased by two sisters Miriam Sandercock and Eunice Keat.
Services: Friends and family may call on Friday June 21, 2013 from 7-9 PM at the funeral home. Cremation will be private.
Inurnment will take place on Saturday June 29, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Port Murray Cemetery with military honors.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Warren Hills Memorial Home. 234. W.
