Obituary of Josephine Handy

Josephine B. Handy, 90 of Asbury, NJ passed away peacefully on March 1, 2014 with her family by her side. Born: on December 11, 1923 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Donald and Marguerite MacDonald. Personal: Josephine graduated from Grover Cleveland high school class of 1941. She previously lived in Caldwell prior to moving to Asbury 15 years ago. Josephine worked as a vault attendant at Hudson City Savings Bank in Roseland prior to her retirement. She was a parishioner of St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Califon. Josephine enjoyed cooking and baking for large family dinners especially during the holidays. Josephine was the matriarch of the Handy family. Her most treasured moments were those spent with her children and grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all. Survivors: she is survived by her beloved children, a daughter, Joann Gardner and her husband Robert, 3 sons, Daniel Handy and his wife Dorothy, John Handy, and Tim Handy and his wife Dolores. 7 grandchildren; Michael, Matthew, Erin, Kathleen, Jennifer, Timothy & Patrick. Her loving husband Leonard passed away in 1981. She is also predeceased by her sister Margaret Stewart and a grandson Daniel Handy. Services: Friends and family may call on Wednesday March 5, 20014 from 5-8 PM at the Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Ave. Washington, NJ 07882. (908-689-0119). A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 398 County Road 513, Califon, NJ 07830 on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Caldwell, NJ. Memorials: Donations may be made in Josephine's name to Hunterdon Hospice, 2100 Westcott Drive, Flemington, NJ 08822. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Warren Hills Memorial Home.
