Obituary of Phyllis V Thompson
Phyllis Clayburne Thompson, 88, of Belvidere, NJ passed away peacefully on April 6, 2020 at Chelsea at Brookfield in Belvidere.
Phyllis was born on February 7, 1932 in Woodbury, NJ to the late John and Otelia Clayburne. She was predeceased by her siblings Robert, John, Constance and Lois.
Though she lived elsewhere during her lifetime, Phyllis was forever proud to call Woodbury her home. After graduating from high school, she went on to finish business school and became a career employee of the federal government. Phyllis worked for both the IRS and the Department of Housing and Urban Development. She enjoyed a lengthy retirement, during which time she enjoyed traveling. She also loved to go to the casinos in Atlantic City to play the slots and enjoy the shows. She never tired of shopping and especially loved to bargain hunt. She also loved to watch old movies on TCM, and to spend time with family and friends.
She is survived by her loving son Kalem Mahdi (Anita), of Boynton Beach, FL, one granddaughter, three great-grandchildren, her caring niece Karen Washington (Melvin), and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be sadly missed.
A memorial service celebrating Phyllis' life will be celebrated at a later date.
