I met Emma only once, last year, after the sudden passing of my mother, who was Emma's second cousin on Emma's mother's side. I visited Emma at Brakeley Care Center to deliver photos my mom had intended to share. (My mom made contact with Emma through her genealogy research shortly before my mom's death; she intended to visit Emma again but did not get the chance to.)
Only a few days after losing my mom, it was a very comforting meeting. Emma told me about and, herself, represented a side of my family that I did not know. She was so warm and open and shared many things in common with my mom and me -- from her love of music to her religiosity and her penchant for crafting and writing. Emma told me that her one and only meeting with my mom had been gratifying for both of them. Though they were somewhat distant relatives, they felt the kindredness of spirit that I also felt in meeting Emma. I feel sad that I won't be able to meet Emma again in this realm but am thankful that I did get to meet her this once.
Attached are photos I found among my mom's things. The top one is my great-grandfather, C Roy Hankinson; his sister-in-law Florence Metz Hankinson; and his older brother, Fred Hankinson. Florence and Fred were Emma's grandparents. The bottom photo is my step-great-grandmother, Grace Brock Hankinson, with Florence and Fred. These are among the few photos I found of my great-grandfather with any of his siblings, though he had a number of brothers and sisters. I take that as another affirmation that we did/do have a special spiritual connection with Emma.
My condolences to Emma's more immediate relatives.

Emma is with Jesus! What a wonderful, beautiful woman. My whole family fell in love with her last Christmas Day. My only regret is that Max and I couldn’t visit with her these past few months. Emma you will be greatly missed!

Here are some pictures of her family. She had a sister Annamay (Sutphen) Turcotte, here is a picture of her son Roger’s family. My father Normand Turcotte and Roger. My sister Linda and I made her place mats with pictures when she went in the nursing home. My daughter Carla and Emma . My two granddaughters, Gianna and Ahrianna, and my Dad and her. And a few family pictures she could not attend.
She was the last living connection of my mother’s side.
I lost a great part of me again. She now is with her husband, her sister, and her parents again.
Auntie Emma till we met again xo❤️

Emma was a warm and loving person who knew her Lord personally. When she was in church folks stood in line to greet the pastor and stood in line to get a hug from Emma.

Dennis and I are so saddened by Emma's passing. She was such a wonderful, loving person and if you knew her you had to love her right back. Someone recently told me that God takes a person home with Him when they reach "perfection". I guess he knew Emma was perfect in every way!

I had the true blessing of having emma come into my life several years ago and we became fast friends. We enjoyed spending time together shopping and having lunch. We had so many adventures on our days out. My heart is truly broken. I will miss her sweet and loving way. Heaven has been blessed with their newest angel. I know my emma is happy to be with her beloved husband and family but the hole she left behind will be very hard to fill. Sending my deepest sympathies to her entire family. The world is a little less bright today.

Emma was a wonderful person who everyone just gravitated to. When you were near her you felt a kind of kinship and knew she really cared about you and loved you. She kept a card ministry up right till the end. She would send cards with little notes and inspirational thoughts to help you get through the day. She was special friend who will definitely leave void in my life and wonderful memories behind.

I believe this is the Emma that was at Brakeley Care Center. If so my mother was a roommate of hers. Whenever I went to visit Mom I always gave Emma a hug, she loved hugs. I am so sorry for your family's loss, she was a beautiful person.
