I met RD during our high school years at Governor Livingston. We quickly became friends and shared many common interests. We always had fun and thoroughly enjoyed being pranksters! His parents always welcomed me to their house while Trooper ,the German Shepard, wasn't sure...he knew my true character! We were definitely gear heads and loved our cars, motorcycles and just hanging out with the boys. It was such great fun growing up in Berkley Heights and hanging out with Rick most every night. Lord knows we did a lot of things we shouldn't have done but it all work out in the end. That period of time moved on and after college I moved out of New Jersey so our relationship took the usual visit him if and when I was in NJ and/or telephone calls. We did keep up over the years but in hindsight not enough...
When I got the call I was devastated to say the least. All summer long I kept telling myself I needed to call Rick but just never got around to it. I now wish I did. I'm so glad I decided to come to see you one more time. I know you're smiling as Barbara, Eric and Brian did a wonderful job during a most difficult period. You have two wonderful boys...I mean men that I enjoyed sharing my memories with. They are strong and together your wonderful moments in life live on.
RD I will always remember you and look forward to seeing you on the other side. God Bless and may you rest in peace.
Boy do I miss you...

I met Rick online on a Lawn Mower Forum around 2017, both being "Gear Heads" we seemed to click right off. So many common interests, even both our wives are named Barbara. + Old Harleys & cool cars & life in general. As time went by we really became great friends.
He would brag about his beautiful family & how Blessed he was to have them all. I agreed with him. I can't believe it was about 5 years of communicating. Never seemed dull.
We joked about many things, he could make me laugh. Many talks about his Harleys he had, & the ones I've had, & ones I still have. His '62 Vette,& our mowers & etc.
I feel honored to call him my friend. He was a Good man. I miss him already. Gone too soon. We had hoped to meet up in person one day. But since I live so far down South, that was something we never got to do. I regret that for sure..
GOD Bless you Rick, & your family. & thanks for all the good memories of our "Gear head" tales & adventures.
Take care Bro. Billy

I shared a phone call with Rick maybe almost a year back. We hadn’t talked in years and I forget whether he called me or I called him.
We talked a little about old times but mostly caught up with our present lives and our families. Rick had already retired and was very happy. We both said it would be fun to get together soon, maybe both drive halfway and have a drink in a restaurant, New Hope NJ maybe. Well time passed and we never made the trip…
Rick moved to our neighborhood in the 8th grade and we met at the bus stop and he never stopped talking. I was much the introvert and enjoyed throwing 2 cents in every once in a while. Rick was a people person and very social among his friends. He could read people and did have opinions on just about everyone. Over the years knew everyone in town, the kids the cops the shop owners. He knew the few kids with learning disabilities too let’s say they were the kids a little on the outside of things. He and I would be driving and pass so and so and Rick would wave Hi and the kid would wave back and Rick would tell me something about them, I was impressed with his consideration and kindness.
Ricks house was my second home. I remember his parents Nick and Dory like it was yesterday. Dory was also the talker, she truly cared about you and what you were doing. The conversation was always free flowing, asking about friends. When they went on vacation I would take care of the family’s german shepherd Trooper, I was the only person Trooper would let in the house if they were not there. All through high school and during summer breaks from art school in Philadelphia we got together after work.
Over the years with jobs and families we didn’t get in touch enough and some of us get robbed of our retirement years (it happened to my sister too) but I’m raising a glass to my friend Rick in celebrating his life. “Thank You Rick” and your mom and dad for many wonderful young years !!!
Lv,
Joe
