Obituary of Gwen L Burdge

Gwen "Unangst" Burdge, 66, passed away sadly on January 4, 2022 at St Luke's Warren Hospital. Gwen was born on January 13, 1955 in Phillipsburg, NJ to the late Stewart and Evelyn Josephine "Hill" Unangst. She was a lifelong resident of the Washington area. She graduated from Warren Hills High School class of 1973 and married her high school sweet heart David Burdge that same year. Together with Dave they co-owned and operated Burdge Auto and Truck Repair and Burdge U-Haul in Washington. Gwen enjoyed collecting antiques and antique furniture. She was also very knowledgeable and an avid collector of vintage depression glassware. She loved and enjoyed preserving the history of her town of Washington. She cherished her time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. In addition to her loving husband Dave, Gwen is survived by her daughter Stephanie Ghilon and her husband Chuck; a son, David and his wife Holly; sisters, Joyce Mowder, Evelyn Hanson and her husband Otto, Cheryl Leggio and her husband Carmen and Kimberly Merluzzi and her husband Pete; 8 grandchildren Tyler, Rilee, Rianna, Harley, Hannah, David, Kyle and McKenna; Gwen was preceded in death by her sisters, Kathy Unangst, Jill George Unangst and Claire McIntyre: brothers, Milton "Jake" Unangst, Stewart "Bud" Unangst and Todd Unangst. Family and friends may pay their respects on Saturday January 15 from 12-2 PM at The United Methodist Church Of Washington. 116 E. Washington Ave. Washington, NJ 07882. A Memorial service celebrating Gwen's life will begin at 2:00 PM at the church.
