Obituary of Doris M. Defilippis

Doris M. DeFilippis, 94, of Allentown, PA and previously of Washington, NJ and Rehoboth Beach, DE passed away on July 18, 2023 at Rittenhouse Village Senior Home, Allentown, PA. Doris was born on December 1, 1928 in Elizabeth, NJ to the late Frank and Louise Salzmann. She was a graduate from Batton High School in Elizabeth, NJ. Doris worked as a secretary for Lipton Tea, Suburban Propane and Heverin Financial and also for Izod in Rehoboth Beach. She enjoyed playing cards and board games with friends and family. She was an avid golfer, even traveled to Ireland and Scotland to play. She loved traveling all over the world. Her only regret was never getting to see the Great Wall. She loved doing ceramics and keeping busy. Doris was not one to sit around and do nothing. She was always up for a good time. She taught English at church and sung in the church choir at the Lutheran Church of our Savior, Delaware. She was involved in the Marine Corp League Women's Auxiliary. Doris is survived by her daughters; Shelley Fritts, Deborah Burd and her husband Guy, Cindy Murray and her husband Edward, her son, Douglas Stauffer and his wife Beth Ann, step-daughters; Rosemary Albanese and her husband Joseph and Valarie DeFilippis, a sister-in-law Lorraine Salzmann and 11 grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren and 5 nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Doris is predeceased by her husband Arthur DeFilippis, her sisters, June Carroll, Ruth Schortje, a brother Frank Salzmann and her son in law, Stephen Fritts. A service celebrating Doris's life will be announced at a later date. Cremation was held privately and under the direction of Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 West Washington Ave, Washington, NJ 07882.
