Obituary of Robert T. Beck
Robert T. Beck, 93, of Lopatcong, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at Complete Care at Brakeley Park on December 10, 2024.
Robert was born on May 28, 1931 in Cambridge, Massachusetts to the late Roy O. and Mary (Horan) Beck.
Robert graduated from Essex Agricultural School in Danvers, Massachusetts. He joined the U.S. Army and was enlisted from 1952 to 1955 during the Korean War. He was employed at Picatinny Arsenal in Dover, New Jersey as a Mechanical Engineer Technician until his retirement in 1986. In retirement, Robert became a real estate agent in Toms River, New Jersey.
Robert married the love of his life, Dorothy "Dot" (Perry) Beck, on January 28, 1956. They lived in Massachusetts until moving to New Jersey in January of 1966 where they raised their five daughters. "Bob" was a devoted husband, loving father, proud Grampy of 15 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a member of the American Legion Post #131 and a parishioner of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, both in Belvidere, New Jersey. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, family vacations, trips to the casino and traveling in his retirement with Dot. He loved the water whether he was spending time at the lake, beach or pool. He was an avid reader and loved music of all genres.
Bob was married to Dot for 66 years prior to her passing in July 2022. He is survived by his loving daughters, Donna (Scott) Madison, Robbin (Rich) Surmaitis, Kimberly (Leon) Mares, and Barbara (Scott) Thomas and Son-in Law, David Holeman, as well as his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister-in-laws, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Bob was predeceased by his parents; sisters, Helen M. Gish and Marilyn F. Hartford; daughter Sandra L. Holeman, and granddaughter, Chioma Holeman.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, January 3, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 West Washington Avenue, Washington, New Jersey 07882. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Belvidere, New Jersey on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place immediately following the church at St. Patrick's Cemetery.
