Obituary of Joyce S. Lance

Joyce "Nanny Bus" Lance, 86, a lifelong resident of Phillipsburg passed away peacefully on June 7, 2014, at St Luke's hospital in Phillipsburg, NJ. Born: on June 22, 1927 on the family farm in Mt. Bethel, PA to the late Henry and Naomi Brodt. Personal: Joyce was a graduate of Phillipsburg High School class of 1946. She was a bus driver for the Phillipsburg Board of Education for more than 40 years, retiring in 1992. Joyce's students gave her the nickname "Nanny Bus". She was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Easton, PA. She loved her family time on the river, vacations to Hawaii, and enjoyed card club with her close friends. Survivors: Her daughter Debbie Storm and her husband Bo of White Twp; her son David Lance and his wife Barbara of Lopatcong Twsp; four grandchildren Kelly Shaunessy, Shaun Storm, Alison and Justin Lance; and two great grandchildren, Alexis and Makenna Shaunessy. Joyce was preceded in death by a sister Thelma Bonney, brothers Paul and Blaine Brodt, and grandson Ryan Storm. Services: Friends and family may call on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 from 10:00-11:00 AM at the Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Ave, Washington, NJ 07882. Funeral services will be celebrated at 11:00 AM immediately following the visitation. Interment will take place at Montana Mountain cemetery.
