Obituary of Ronald Quigley

Ronald Quigley, 79 of Washington passed away peacefully at the Care Center of Brakeley Park in Lopatcong, NJ with his family by his side on May 18, 2013. Born: on January 26, 1934 to the late Stewart & Marjorie Quigley in Washington, NJ Personal: Ronald was a lifelong resident of Washington where he graduated from Washington High School Class of 1952. After High School he proudly served his Country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Ronald worked for M&M Mars in Hackettstown as a Packing Machine Operator for 30 years retiring in 1991. Ron had many interests which included fishing, bowling, his weekly Golf outings, and attending the Annual Fireman's Convention in Wildwood, NJ. He had a passion for woodworking, over the years he made several bird houses, Angels and Sleighs. Ron was a member of the "West End Fire Dept." where he would have his morning coffee with friends at Guy's filling station but above all his interests was his family he loved his family and treasured each moment spent with them. Memberships: Ronald dedicated his life to helping others. He was a member of the Washington Borough Fire Dept. Truck company #2 Serving as Chief in 1988 and 1989. He was a member of the Huntington Volunteer Fire Department Association, a Life Member of the NJ State Fireman's Relief Association, a Life member of the NJ Exempt Fireman's Association, The Warren County Fire Chief's Association, The NJ State Chief's Association, and an Honorary Member of Cataract Hose Co. #1, Hackettstown, NJ. Ronald was also a member of the American Legion Post 103, and VFW Pohatcong Memorial Post 6701 in Washington. He loved his Country and his home town of Washington . He was a friend to all and will be sadly missed. Survivors: He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Janet Quigley, 2 loving daughters, Cindy Burdge and her husband Dave of Hackettstown, NJ and Bonnie Groff and her husband Randy of Oxford, NJ. 4 grandchildren, Brendon, Jennifer, Jessica and Courtney, 2 step-grandchildren, Kevin & Scott, many nieces & nephews. He is predeceased by his sisters Bernice & Mildred. Services: Friends and family may call on Wednesday May 22, 2013 from 1:00-3:00 PM & 6:00-9:00 PM with a Fireman's service at 7:30 PM., at Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Ave , Washington , NJ 07882 .
