Obituary of Werner Thiel
Werner M. Thiel, 85 of White Twp, previously of South Plainfield, Kingston, NY and Frankfurt, Germany passed away peacefully on July 30, 2013 at the Hunterdon Medical Center.
Born: November 2, 1927 in Haarlem, Holland to the late Eduard and Marta Thiel.
Personal: Werner grew up and was educated in Germany. At the age of 17 during the final months of WWII, he was drafted into the German army. He was captured by the Soviet army and became a POW in Siberia for four years. He immigrated to the United States in 1954, where he met the love of his life, Zigrida. They married on May 12, 1956. While very proud of his German heritage, he was honored to become an American citizen in 1960. Werner was a talented Master Craftsmen building homes in Central Jersey where he was known for his fine finish work. In 1973, Werner began working for Warren Lumber & Millwork, where he is credited with starting the door shop. Using his talents, he always helped friends and family. Werner loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors: His loving wife of 57 years Zigrida; a daughter Nancy Pershyn and her husband Brian; a son Timothy Thiel and his wife Melanie; a sister in Germany; three grandchildren Victoria, Sonya and Steven; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by five brothers and a sister.
Services: Family and friends may call on Sunday August 4, 2013 from 2-5 PM at the Warren Hills Memorial Home. 234 W. Washington Ave, Washington, NJ 07882. Funeral Services will be held on Monday August 5, 2013 at 10:00 AM from the funeral home. Burial will be in Belvidere Cemetery.
