Obituary of Jacob Stanley Wicks

Jacob Stanley Wicks, 21, of Washington Twp, passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at 10:33 p.m. Surrounded by family and friends at St. Luke's Hospital, Jacob slipped his mortal bonds and went into the eternal arms of Jesus Christ. Born: He was born September 11, 1992 in Hackettstown Hospital, the son of Daniel and Carol Wicks. Personal: Jacob attended Port Colden and Brass Castle Elementary Schools, Warren County Vo-Tech's culinary arts program, and graduated from Warren Hills Regional High School in 2011. Jacob was finishing a final class to receive his AA from Raritan Valley Community College and was soon to start work for NJ Transit. Jacob was an avid soccer player and automotive drift racing enthusiast. He was a "rotorhead" and passionate about his RX7. He enjoyed riding dirt bikes, doing tricks on the trampoline, wakeboarding, and bridge jumping. Jacob was active in his faith community and volunteered to demonstrate God's universal love by serving the less fortunate through construction-related mission projects in West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Jacob had a terrific sense of humor and loved food, especially eating it. Jacob valued quality time with friends and family. Jacob was known as the perpetually happy one; he was always smiling and friendly with everyone. Jacob was a naturally attractive person who radiated his cheerful personality to all around him. He had piercing blue eyes and a handsomeness that did not waver as he matured from baby faced to regular 5 o'clock shadows. Jacob was his mother's gentle giant and his father's peacemaker. He was everyone's favorite and a joy to be around. Survivors: Jacob is survived by his parents, Daniel and Carol of Washington Twp; his brothers Daniel, Matthias, and Josiah Wicks, and Eric, Keith, and Ben Land, as well as his sisters Rachel, Rebekah, and Ruth Wicks. He also leaves his sister-in law, Rebekah and three nieces, Ruth, Phoebe, and Elsa Land of Anchorage, Alaska, and his maternal grandparents, Roger McCormick of Akron, Ohio and Nancy McCormick of Edgewater, Florida. Jacob's large and extended surviving family includes fourteen aunts and uncles, their spouses, and innumerable cousins. Jacob was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Stanley and Olive Wicks of Dorothy, NJ, his cousin Jacob Ober, and his uncle Ralph Wicks. Services: Friends and family may call on Saturday September 21, 2013 from 9:00 AM - 12:00PM at the Faith Discovery Church, 33 Brass Castle Rd, Washington, NJ.
