Obituary of Richard M. Yurkovitch

Richard M. Yurkovitch, 66, of Harmony, NJ, went to be with the Lord peacefully with his family at his side on August 10, 2009, at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital, NY NY. Born: On February 11, 1943, in Plainfield, NJ, he was a son of Doralu Yurkovitch of Warren, NJ, and the late Martin Yurkovitch. Personal: He lived in Harmony for 19 years, previously he lived in Washington and Warren, NJ. Richard was a heavy equipment technician for Foley Machine Inc., Piscataway, NJ for 35 years, retiring in 2007. Richard graduated from Watchung High School, class of 1961. He served proudly in the Navy during the Vietnam War. Richard had a love for gardening and landscaping, he took great pride and maintained his property like a park. He enjoyed sports, music, and restoring antique cars. Survivors: His loving wife of 44 years Jane; two sons, Richard S. Yurkovitch and his wife Kim of Nazareth, PA, Timothy Yurkovitch and his wife JeanMarie of Pen Argyl, PA; daughter, Suzanne Swanson and her husband David of Harmony, NJ; brother, William; three sisters, Diane Morales, Cindy Wolfe and Linda Kollmar; eight grandchildren, George, Kayla, Kelly, Emily, Kathleen, Olivia, Kevin and Jacob; his cockapoo and beloved companion Onie. He was predeceased by his father Martin F. Services: Visitation will be Thursday, August 13, 2009 , 7 to 9 p.m. at Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 West Washington Ave., Washington, NJ 07882. Services will be Friday, August 14, 2009 , a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. with Fr. Blaise Baran officiating, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 Carlton Ave., Washington 07882. Cremation will be private. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Ave., Washington, NJ 07882.
