Obituary of Edith M. Conklin
Edith M. Conklin, 62, of Washington, N.J., died
Thursday, July 1, 2004, in Hunterdon Medical Center.
Born: September 5, 1941, in Paterson, N.J., a daughter of the late Richard Sylstra and Angelena Van Hoff.
Personal: Her husband, Robert, died in 1990. She had lived in Washington for 25 years. Prior to that, she had lived in Lebanon Township and Wyckoff, N.J. She was a teacher's aide at Brass Castle Elementary School in Washington for 15 years until her retirement just this year.
Memberships: She was a member of The Church of the Covenant in Mansfield Township.
Survivors: two sons, Robert and Kevin, and a daughter, Angelyn, all of Washington; a sister, Janette Hendershot of Hackettstown; a brother, Raymond Sylstra of Seemsville, Pa.; a granddaughter, Alyssa, and also David Van Benchoten, whom she referred to as her adopted son. A brother, Kenneth Sylstra, died in 2003.
Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday in the church, 319 Blau Rd., Hackettstown, N.J. Family and friends may pay their respects 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Sylstra family residence, 277 South Lincoln Ave., Washington, N.J. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Harmony.
