Obituary of Harold Bruce Housman
Harold "Bruce" Housman 68, of Franklin Township, NJ passed away peacefully on May 23, 2015 at St Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem, PA.
Born October 15, 1946 in Elizabeth, NJ to the late Harold and Marion Housman. Bruce moved to the Washington area in 1957 graduating from Washington High School class of 1965.
He was employed by American National Can Co. in Washington, NJ for 45 years before retiring as a machinist in 2010.
He and his wife built their home in the country setting of Franklin Township. He enjoyed the country life gardening, raising chickens and rabbits as well as racing homing pigeons. He spent many hours with his wife and soul mate hunting, fishing, hiking and being outdoors. He and his wife were avid travelers touring on motorcycle or camping across the United States and Nova Scotia. He cherished time spent with his family during their camping and boating trips to Upstate New York on Lake George, or fishing Lake Champlain for Large Mouth Bass.
Bruce was a beloved grandfather to his four grandchildren, taking an active role in their lives and upbringing. He was always helping others in anyway he could. Bruce was kind, thoughtful, and an inspiration to those around him, he touched so many lives and left lifelong impacts on his friends and families hearts.
He was an avid photographer, a member of the NRA and spent many hours target shooting with friends Pat and Howard Kinney at the Easton Fish and Game club.
Bruce is survived by his high school sweetheart and beloved wife of 48 years Carol (Pettit). In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters Michelle McCord and Lisa Housman, four grandchildren Aleasha, Payton, Gavin and Ethan, sister Barbara Olesen and her husband David, brother Robert Housman and his wife Bonnie, sister-in-law Nancy Brodhead and her husband Nelson, sister-in-law Barbara Spence, numerous nieces and nephews, two great-nephews, one great-niece and one great-great-niece.
Services: Friends and family may pay their respects on Friday June 19, 2015 from 10:00 AM – 12:00PM at the Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Ave. Washington, NJ 07882. A Memorial service will be celebrated immediately following at 12:00 PM at the Funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cynthia D. Starr Breast Cancer Center.
