Obituary of Jeanne McCormick
Jeanne L. (Ruszczyk) McCormick, 66, of Washington, NJ passed away peacefully at Brakely Park Care Center in Lopatcong Twp., NJ on September 29, 2015.
Born in Phillipsburg, NJ on March 13, 1949 to Edward P. Ruszczyk and Jeanne (Baron) Ruszczyk (both deceased).
Jeanne graduated with honors from the last class of Washington High School in 1967. She has been the treasurer of the reunion committee for all of their reunions. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree with a certificate of mathematics from Montclair State College in 1971. She was employed at West Morris High School from 1971- 1978. She took 18 years off from teaching to raise her two sons. She volunteered for the Washington Township Youth Committee as treasurer, uniform chairman, and board member. She also did private tutoring and spent many hours watching her children play sports. She returned to teaching in 1996 and spent the next 18 years teaching math at Warren County Technical School. She retired October 1, 2014. Jeanne was of the Catholic faith and a parishioner of St. Theodores Catholic Church in Mansfield, NJ. Jeanne had a passion for gardening, above all she enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be sadly missed by all.
Jeanne is survived by her devoted husband of 42 years, Michael (Mickey) J. McCormick, two loving sons, Ryan and his wife Marissa and their son Quinn Kelly, and Colin and his wife Colleen and their son Jameson Michael. Two caring sisters, Lorraine Ruszczyk and Marilyn Szot and her husband Nick. Two nephews Justin Szot, his wife Jessica and their three daughters, and Joshua Szot. There are many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and brothers and sisters in law".
In addition to her parents Jeanne was preceded in death by a brother Eddie Ruszczyk.
Friends and family may pay their respects on Sunday October 4, 2015 from 2:00-6:00 PM at the Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Ave., Washington, NJ 07882.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 5, 2015 at 10:30 AM at St. Theodores Catholic Church, 855 State Hwy Route 57, Port Murray, NJ 07865. Burial will be at St. Joseph Parish Cemetery in Washington, NJ
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jeanne's name to the American Cancer Society, 6725 Lyons St, PO Box 7, East Syracuse, NY 13057 OR the Washington Township Youth Association.
