Obituary of Betty R Hamlen

Betty R. Hamlen, 82, a lifelong resident of the Washington area passed away peacefully on April 25, 2016 at Overlook Hospital. Born on August 8, 1933 to the late Wilber and Ruth (nee Fox) Howell in Oxford, NJ Betty was a machine operated for American Can in Washington, NJ for more than 30 years before retiring in 1998. She enjoyed walking in the park and crocheting. She will be remembered by all who knew her as a very loving and caring person. Betty will be sadly missed. She is survived by her loving daughter Debra Miller and her husband Frank; Sisters Joan Smith and her husband Richard, Donna Gara and her husband Frank; Brothers Butch Howell, Peter Howell and his wife Betty, Richard Howell and his wife Jane; Grandchildren Sandra, Richard, Daryl and Jamie. 3 great grandchildren Kyle, Ashley and Michael. Betty was preceded in death by her 1st husband Erving Shotwell and her 2nd husband William Hamlen. A daughter Donna Silverthorn. A brother Jay Howell. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Warren Hills Memorial Home.
