I first met Kelly when she was 10 years old. She was "the new girl" in the White Township 5th grade class. I remember thinking she was SO cute, and really zany. We became instant friends, and started hanging out at each other's houses and having sleepovers all the time. She was always cracking jokes, making up ridiculous skits and teaching me how to do my hair and make-up. My family loved her. She was a good friend- a great friend, and she has forever had a special place in my heart since that point in time. We braved freshman year together at BHS, terrified of the scary seniors and what high school might look like; and then slowly drifted in and out of each other's lives as she started dating and then moved to attend Warren Tech. She did my hair and make-up for the BHS winter formal my sophomore year, and I later pretended I was interested in attending Warren Tech simply so I could spend the day with her in her cosmetology class! When I went away to college we completely lost touch, and the last time I saw her we were 18 years old. Over the last 11 years I have prayed for her, kept up with her via Facebook, and attempted to contact her so we could talk. She was a BEAUTY, and I dare say she never quite knew her true worth. She was like a little sister to me- even though she was exactly 6 months older than me; so often needing love, loyalty, protection and advice- and I will never forget her. Kelly Smith will always be one of the dearest, truest friends of my life. She was an absolute treasure, and I thank God for the window that He gave me into her precious little soul, and for the time we spent as friends with two very connected hearts. Jesus can be trusted with the answers to the "Why?"

I remember being in tech with kelly back in the highschool days. She was a sweet and caring person. Its very sad that she was taken from this earth at such a young age. My prayers go out to kelly and her family.
