So sorry to hear of Mr. Rhodes passing. I was in the first class he ever taught at Port Colden and he remained one of my favorite teachers! I was also fortunate to be able to work with him many years later when he was a counselor at the middle school and I was acting Social Worker for the Child Study Team that served the Washington Area prior to getting my graduate degree. Rest in Peace Mr. Rhodes!

I continue to have you on my mind Vickie and family, and in my heart since Thursday. I am so grateful knowing you had so many shared moments and a relationship so loving and beautiful with your dear husband /buddy Bob. My ride to NJ there and back gave me a chance to recall all the loving moments through the years that are vivid and alive. Meeting Bob as a student in 7th grade, there for me when my parents divorced, teaching and showing God's love and living that love every day. He was a role model for me and I every time we were back in NJ after our move to NC I wanted share and connect. His love and faith touch so many and this week I connected by phone with some of my life long friends and with my siblings, to share memories we had in Bible Study. He was there when we celebrated my sister Helen's life. His faith, acceptance of others, his humor and his ability to know and have insight are qualities I try to be in my daily encounters with others in personal and professional life. A role model and HERO !!! God Bless you! Such a blessing to see Ronna and share past memories!!! He truly a person who touched and changed lives during each encounter and after each encounter.

We, the Fazzolari Family send our sincerest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to the Family of Mr. Rhoads. It was my sincerest privilege to have had Mr. Rhoads as my children's
Guidance Counselor. I met with him several times myself to discuss my children and always came away with a sense of how much he cared and listened. One particular meeting he asked me about myself and I expressed my regret at never having completed college. He said, " college is great, but there are plenty of people who are successful who haven't attended college. I kept that thought with me through the years and I'm proud to say I own a local business serving the needs of seniors in Hunterdon and Warren Counties. I never forgot what Mr. Rhoads told me that day and I was blessed to have known him.
Rest in Peace
Tracy L. Fazzolari & Family.

Can't really put into words how great a man Mr. Rhoads was. When I went through Jr. high school at Warren Hills his door was always open. He just knew how to simplify life's problems. His calmness with every situation he came across was amazing & Godly. He always told me he never knew all the answers but he knew someone who did, God. We would talk for hours & when I left him I felt like a new person. He had such an effect on my life & everyone he came across. I know he's in a better place now & knowing that someday I'll get a chance to see him again is comforting to me. RIP Mr. Rhoads, you will be truly missed.

A true man of God who helped and guided so many others. A wonderful mentor, friend, and a modern day prophet. He lived by the words he coined and believed in, " Always leave people better than you found them". Bob, you taught me so much and planted the seeds of faith. Many good times golfing and going to Phillies games. Your love for God created a fragrance around you that made others yearn for him. I will always carry in my heart all the things you taught me. Thanks for being the man you were. See you in heaven one day.

Sorry for your loss.
Mr. Rhoads was my guidance counselor when I was in the Jr. High. He would lean back in his chair, leg crossed and present that humbling comforting smile...and always appeared to be engaged in the discussion at hand. Although he was a Christian and I, Native American Indian (spiritual), it was evident that we walked the same road of respect and understanding for all humanity. I, to this day cherish the bounty of wisdom and encouragement one man can inspire in another. Thank you Mr.Rhoads for seeing my light...I too chose education and received my masters...

Vicki - You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Bob was indeed a genuine man, and someone whom I loved and admired. I fondly remember sitting in his office on several occasions, asking for advice or seeking encouragement. He always called it like it was, and I appreciated that. He knew each of his students so well - their history, their strengths, and their shortcomings. I doubt there will ever be another "Bob Rhoads" - and thank YOU for making his life so complete. Bob may be gone, but his spirit will continue to shine.

My family moved to Washington NJ just before I began 8th grade. Right after we moved my dear grandfather was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. To say it was a stressful time for a 13 year old is an understatement. All these years later I still remember how kind Mr. Rhoads was to me. I occasionally would get so upset in class I would start weeping. I remember one day he told me that if that ever happened I could just head down to guidance to hide out for a bit. It helped so much. He also realized I was a high-achieving student and he helped get me placed in classes that were challenging. At a very bad time in my life, I remember how hard he worked to help me feel safe. I was sad to learn of his passing and I imagine that over the years of his career he helped thousands of young people to cope. My condolences to his family.
