Obituary of Sylvester Saldino
Sylvester “Whitey” Saldino, 81, of the Changewater section of Lebanon Township passed away peacefully at home on October 28, 2016 with his loving family by his side.
Born on October 20, 1935 in Newark, NJ to the late Sylvester and Ruby Saldino.
Whitey graduated from Southside high school in Newark, NJ class of 1952. He moved to Changewater in 1964. He married the love of his life Jeanette “Pfeiffer” in 1972. Whitey worked as a maintenance and refrigeration technician for Hoffman LaRoach for more than 25 years before retiring in 1996. He was a part of the Hoffman LaRoach breakfast club and enjoyed getting together for their monthly social meetings. Whitey was of the Methodist faith and a parishioner of Changewater United Methodist Church. He loved the outdoors and going camping. His family was his world and he loved every moment spent with his children and grandchildren. His most treasured moments were those spent at his son’s body shop.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Jeanette. His loving children, 2 sons, Jeffrey Saldino and his wife Gerry and Steven Saldino and his wife Elaine, 3 daughters, Barbara Warren and her husband William, Jamie Ungaretta and Kelly Kaiser and her husband Brad, A sister Brenda Oakes and her husband William 7 cherished grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by 2 sisters, Rita Smith and Dorothy Pfeiffer.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday November 2, 2016 from 4 -8 PM at the Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Ave., Washington, NJ 07882 Funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Washington Cemetery
