Obituary of Thomas P Bray
Thomas Peay Bray Jr. 81, of Washington, NJ passed away peacefully on January 22, 2017 at Easton Hospital.
He was born on August 24, 1935 in Greenville, SC to the late Thomas and Madah Bray.
Raised in Greenville, SC Thomas was known in his younger years as "Tompy" by his friends and family. During his high school years he was quite popular and loved to dance. His love of dance earned him a new nickname of "Stompy" in high school. After graduating High School he proudly served his Country in the United States Naval Air Force. Upon returning from his tour of duty Thomas attended Clemson University where he earned his Bachelors of Science degree in Textile Manufacturing, graduating in 1957.
He met and married the love of his life Almera in 1961. He was employed for 25 years at Greenwood Mills in New York City while living in Madison, NJ. He later in life opened his own company "Bray Associates" where he worked as an independent contractor until his retirement in 2007. Thomas enjoyed singing from an early age and was a member of the Mackie Boys Choir. He was an Elder in the Presbyterian Church of Madison NJ and later in life a parishioner of the First Presbyterian Church in Washington, NJ. A faithful man he also was a member of the prayer group called the Primetime Prayers of New Providence NJ.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Almera Bray, his loving children Mary Kathryn (Patricia) Braygreen, Thomas P Bray III, Richard Bruce (Carrie) Bray and Martha Cary Bray; 4 cherished grandchildren, Florrest Wolfe Braygreen, Hunter Bruce Braygreen, Ava Shayne Bray and Eden Grace Bray; his 2 nephews Eddie W. Seigler, Thomas Bray Seigler, and niece Cary LaMar Walker. He is preceded in death by his sister Martha Bray Seigler.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday, January 27, 2017 from 11:00 AM � 12:00 PM. At the Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Ave., Washington, NJ 07882. Funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 12:00 PM in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donation may be made in Thomas' name to the First Presbyterian Church, 40 Church St. Washington, NJ 07882
