Dear Beth, it was with mixed emotions that I received your phone call last Friday of the home going of your mom. I have such fond memories of your mom and dad. As you know your daddy served on the national board of Children's Bible Ministries for many many years. While he was attending board meetings your mother would work with other ladies in helping to make craft items that would be used in some aspect of CBM's camp program order for the annual banquet for our national conference.
Your mother was a feisty someone she just never gave up. She was so disciplined when it came to eating the right kind of food and doing what was best for her health.
As I think of your mother she was one who worked for the Lord ,gave to the Lords work and, prayed for the Lord to work! They would travel every year in their motorhome to Florida to camp Gilead , spend several months working on various projects. On the way down or on the return trip they would stop at Camp Ta-Pa-Win-Go and or Camp Grace and or Camp NewLife . They even made it to Tuckaleechee Retreat Center not just to visit but to WORK!
I remember on one occasion your mother heard about a major need at the national office, that need was met by her generosity. She wanted to see the work move forward!
The last time I was there was for the home going service of your daddy. As I spoke to your mom privately she wanted to know about particular situations in the various CBM areas. I thought how does she know all of this and then it dawned on me she was receiving the monthly prayer calendar and she prayed! She wanted to keep up-to-date in order to pray more intelligently.
Someone has said God is populating heaven with people we love. Someday there will be a grand reunion. May the Lord continue to minister to you Beth and to your sister Bonnie and your brother Doug. You have been blessed to have had such godly parents .We will be praying for you and the family that God's grace and peace will flood your hearts.
In his service
