Obituary of Ernest Green
Ernest Green, 89, of Bangor, died Saturday, November 17, 2007, in Slate Belt Nursing Home, Bangor.
Born: He was born June 22, 1918, in Tansboro, N.J., a son of the late John and Anna Green.
Personal: He had resided in Glen Gardner, Beach Haven, N.J. and Pinellas Park, Fla. He worked on the railroad as a train master for Jersey Central Railroad, Elizabeth, N.J., for 35 years, retiring in 1972. Ernest served in the Army during World War II. He saw action in the African Campaign and the Liberation of Europe. He enjoyed golf, hunting, camping, fishing, biking, boating and clamming. He was of Methodist faith.
Survivors: two daughters, Carol Zairo and her husband, John, of Washington Twp. and Dawn Collins of New Gretna, N.J.; a son, John, and his wife, Teresa, of Pocono, Pa.; a brother, Henry Green, of Berlin, N.J.; four grandchildren, John, Kimberly, Gretchen and Stephanie; seven great-grandchildren, Jessica, Kasey, Rebecca, John, Hanna, Blake and Tyler.
Memberships: He was a member of the Host Masonic Lodge No. 6 in High Bridge and a member of the VFW in Glen Gardner.
Services: A Memorial Service will be held noon on Wednesday in Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 West Washington Ave., Washington, with Rev. James Scovell officiating. Masonic and Veterans Services will follow. Visitation will be held 11 a.m. to time of service Wednesday in the funeral home. Cremation will be private.
