Dear Jean and family,
Ev and I are very sad to know of Max's passing into his new life, but we're pretty sure he is now with God. He always sat immediately behind me when I lectored at some of the Masses during the week and he always had a smile for me, as well as a warm greeting, and it was always a joy to see him at Life Choices events. He really loved people and loved life.
He helped us during problematic business ventures and was relentless and determined to help us find a location when the chips were down, basically, knocking on doors to find a solution. We could never think of the words to thank him enough.
May God love you and forever hold you in His arms, Max. We hope to see that smile again. You're in our prayers.

Dear Jean and Family,
So very sorry to hear about Max's passing. Please accept my deepest condolences.
Max hired me over 40 years ago to be a Sales Associate with his Pluckemin Office.
Being new to the business that he knew so well, he took the time to share his knowledge and people skills with me. It was an honor and a privilege to have known and worked with him all those years.
May he rest in Peace.

Steve and I first met him and Jean at a charity function held by The Arc Foundation. We were new in town and we didn't know anyone at the function. Steve and I with our two small children were sitting by ourselves getting ready to eat our lunch. He introduced himself and told us to sit with him and his group. Everyone had to make room for us. I would later learn that he was our neighbor. Later on I would find out that he was a major contributor to The Arc and that he was Catholic, just like us. He would become my mentor, my boss, friend, and motivator. One day, he came by our house and asked us if we wanted Brahma chickens. He gave us a dozen live chickens and that started our farming adventure. Then he asked me to work for him. It was at his company that I realized the love and respect people have for this man. Max, thank you for everything.
From Steve: Max was the kind of person who could never bring himself to say he didn't like somebody. He never met a person he didn't like. He always found something good in that person and always pointed it out. That was what struck me the most about Max. It is a rare quality but Max was that kind of guy. We're fortunate to have known him.

My grandmother was Regina Spann Morriss and my mother was Susan Morriss Denning. I had the honor and pleasure of meeting Max Spann, Sr. a few years ago at an annual Spann family reunion held at Heron Run Farm. He was small in stature like my grandma but tall in integrity and wealthy in a vast history rich in cattle, dairy, real estate and family. I send my condolences to his family. May the angels in Heaven welcome him and his beloved find solace in their memories of him.

Dear Jean & Family,
My prayers are with all of you for the loss of the greatest man I have every known. Max believed in me at a very young age and opened doors for me that I could have never opened on my own. Max made me who I am today as a person and a Realtor. Max will forever live on in my heart and spirit.
I love you all!

My deepest condolences to the family on the loss of such a remarkable man. Mr. Spann always had a way to make people smile. I will certainly be missing him at future auctions, especially when he would direct the audience to do certain "exercises" to loosen up. It was so fun to watch since he saw to it that every person in the audience participate! I feel blessed to have known and been in the presence of Max Spann Sr.
