Obituary of Edmund Methfessel
Edmund Methfessel Sr., 85, of Belvidere, NJ passed away peacefully at Heath Village in Hackettstown, NJ on December 10, 2017 with his loving family by his side. Born on January 5, 1932 in Staten Island, NY to the late Herman and Nancy Methfessel. After graduating high school, Ed enlisted in the United State Air Force and proudly served his country as a radio operator specializing in Morse code during the Korean War. He married the love of his life Betty in 1953. Ed continued his education upon returning home from his tour of duty. He earned his under-graduate degree from St. Peters College in Jersey City and a Master's degree in business from Wagner College. He was employed in the steel industry for many years prior to proudly starting his own business EDES Steel Products Corp. Ed was of the Catholic faith and a parishioner at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in Belvidere, NJ. He was a member of the Holy Name Society. Ed was an avid golfer and a member of the Esquire Golf Club. He always looked forward to the annual "Sludge Trip". Ed loved the outdoors and would often go hunting in his younger years. Above all, Ed loved his family. He adored his children and grandchildren and treasured each moment spent with them. He will be sadly missed. He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Betty Methfessel. His loving children, son, Edmund Methfessel Jr. and his wife Geraldine, 2 daughters, Diane Potter and her husband Rick, and Susan Lazorisak and her husband Alex and 5 treasured grandchildren; Ryan, Emily, Jake, Andrew and Jefferyand 1 cherished great-granddaughter Abigail. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Herman Methfessel Jr. and John D Methfessel.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM, at the Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Ave., Washington, NJ 07882. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, December, 14, 2017 at 10:30 AM at the St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, 327 Greenwich St., Belvidere, NJ 07823. Burial will be private In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ed's name to the Alzheimer's New Jersey, Greater New Jersey Chapter, 400 Morris Ave Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834-1365 Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Ave., Washington, NJ 07882.
