Dear Mom,
You look so beautiful and exactly as I remember you!!! I know you have suffered the past couple of years and I so missed talking to you on the phone catching up, trading books, and sharing memories of your past. I am so glad I got to visit with you at Christmas a couple of years ago. You looked so lovely and it was so much fun going through all your jewelry. :)
There are so many things you taught me as a young girl after you married my father, John -- your tastes in clothing and design, your love of decorating, music and art, cooking, hair and make-up, and your genuine sense of style and lastly your strong persevering will!!! I still remember that first dress you bought me, it was a ruffled blue dress with white polka dots. I remember how I hugged you so about that dress! As a very young girl at that time, no one took more interest and affection in me than you!
I miss going to plays with you and my travelling from Georgia to Long Island for visits with Uncle Pat and Aunt Edith and Barbara and sharing holidays. I miss our conversations about life's challenges. You were always there for me to talk about anything and everything (including men:).
I am forever grateful with your helping me select an occupation when starting out in the work force as a young girl.
I remember when I was so scared to move to Atlanta and you encouraged me it was the right thing to do. I remember leaving your home in Shirley and you hugged me and said "keep your chin up" it will work out. Guess what? It did for many many years as you knew it would!
And your visit with me and Bruce in Atlanta many many years ago. It is a fond memory! You almost missed the plane because the timed changed that evening..whoo!!
I miss you so, and am glad you are now at peace and with all your loves ones who have passed before you! God is now taking care of you! All my love goes to you today and forever! I wished I could be there to hold your hand and say goodbye!
