Obituary of William J Hodge

William J. Hodge Jr., 89 of Port Murray, NJ passed away peacefully on July 28, 2018 at home with his loving family by his side. Born on May 9, 1929 in Glendon, PA to the late William J. Hodge Sr. and Helen Hodge. William was raised in Phillipsburg and was a graduate of Phillipsburg High School class of 1947. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was decorated with a Presidential Unit Citation with one star, the Korean service ribbon with three stars and the United Nations Ribbon. He also received a Good Conduct medal. Upon returning from the war, he met and married the love of his life Edith while in Virginia. They purchased their forever home in Port Murray, NJ in 1962. William was employed as a Chief Lineman for Jersey Central Power & Light prior to his retirement in 1991. He also was employed by Snyder Bus Company of Washington. He volunteered at the ARC and was a driver there for 20 years. He was a member of the American Legion in Hackettstown. William was a huge NY Giants fan and a fan of NASSCAR always cheering on Dale Earnhardt Jr. Above all he loved his family. He will be sadly missed by all. He is survived by his loving daughter Deborah Quinn and her husband William, a brother, Kenneth Hodge, 2 sisters, Joann Kunsman and Dawn Kindrew. 3 treasured grandchildren, Shawn, Ryan and Brandon Quinn and 4 adored great-grandchildren, Kayleigh, Lukas, Caleb and Tayler Quinn. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his devoted with Edith who passed in 2011, a sister Elizabeth and a brother David A Memorial service celebrating William's life will be held on Friday, August 3, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Phillipsburg Christian Mission Alliance Church, 255 Lincoln Ave., Phillipsburg, NJ 08865 In lieu of flowers donations may be made in William's name to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
