Obituary of Burdette N Mullikin

Burdette "Pete" Mullikin Sr., 79, of Washington, NJ passed away peacefully on August 11, 2018 at the Hunterdon Medical Center.

Pete was born on October 9, 1938 in Hornell, NY to the late Daniel and Elizabeth Mullikin.

Pete grew up in Hornell, NY moving to Harmony then Washington, NJ in 1965. He was employed with Local 472 Laborers Union in Newark, NJ. He married his soul mate Veronica Markle in 1960. Pete enjoyed buying old cars and fixing and selling them for a profit and his love of scratching lottery tickets . He was a past member of the New Village Fire Department. He enjoyed woodworking, watching NASCAR and scratching off lottery tickets . He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years Veronica Mullikin. A son, Burdette "Pete" Mullikin Jr. and his wife Kathaleen. Daughters, Jody Mullikin and Kim Rinehart and her husband Paul. Brothers, Donald, Chauncey, David and Dwayne. Sisters, Dolores "Dody" Markle, Sarah "Sally" Loebsack . Grandchildren, Peter J. Mullikin, Kristen Mullikin, Robert VanderVelde, Leeann VanderVelde, Jeremy VanderVelde, Paul Rinehart Jr. and Brandon Rinehart. Great grandchildren, Raegan Mullikin and Mackinley Mullikin. He was preceded in death by his brothers, William, Ronald, Richard and Daniel. A sister, Betty Tompkins.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Pete's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
