Obituary of Gretel DeBoer

Gretel DeBoer, 85, formerly of Washington & Oxford, NJ passed away peacefully at Hospice House of the VNA of St. Luke's on August 15, 2018. Gretel was born in Zurich, Holland on August 9, 1933 to the late Rinze and Maaike Mulder. Gretel immigrated to the United States in 1957. She was employed as a packer for American Can Co in Washington, NJ for more than 20 years before her retirement in 1985. She loved working in her gardens. She was an independent and strong willed person. Her loving husband Hans DeBoer passed away in 1981. Gretel is survived by a son, Richard DeBoer and his wife Joan; a daughter Marianne Lutes; 4 sisters, Betty Engel, Ann Diehl, Mary Kerekes and Henriette Lugo; 6 grandchildren, Ricky Jr., Sara, Jennifer, Kathryn, Mackenzie and Rylee; 4 Great Grandchildren, Nico, Jaxon, Olivia and Colt. Family and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday August 22, 2018 from 6-8 PM at the Warren Hills Memorial Home. 234 W. Washington Ave. Washington, NJ 07882. Funeral services will be celebrated on Thursday August 23, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be at Washington Cemetery.
