Obituary of Janet Rutan
Janet Brainard Rutan, 95, formerly of Washington, NJ passed away peacefully on September 21, 2021 in Nazareth, PA. Janet was born on November 14, 1925 in Newark, NJ to the late Albion H. and Eleanor W. Brainard. Janet graduated from Kearny High School class of 1943. She went on to earn her Bachelor's Degree from Douglas College. She was a homemaker all of her life but worked in a library and as a teacher's aide when she was younger. Her loving husband William passed away in 2001. She was a parishioner of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Washington, where until she moved to Nazareth she was active and involved in all aspects of the church including serving for many years as the church organist. She volunteered for many charity events. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, entertaining family and friends and spending time with her family.
Janet is survived by her children Frank Rutan and his wife Tina, Ellen Rutan, and Robert Rutan and his wife Deborah; 3 grandchildren, Christopher Ewen, Allen Rutan and Shannon Rutan. In addition to her husband, Janet was preceded in death by a brother, John Brainard.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Janet requested that in lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to a charity of one's choice.
