Ruthie and family I am so saddened to learn of Howie's death. He was such a wonderful person and I have many fond memories of him from work. He made me feel so welcome when I started at Siemens. What a great sense of humor and story teller. He was so special and could laugh at himself. I remember one day he came into work late and was rubbing the back of his neck - the transmission had gone out on his car and the only gear he could get it into was reverse so he drove backwards on the correct side of the road having to look back over his shoulder all the while!!!! That was Howie!! Because of him we also met Ruthie, an added bonus. I treasure the memories of him & you Ruth. How special to be remembered in such positive beautiful life events. Hugs and prayers to you Ruth and all of Howie's family.

I feel sad to loose such a wonderful person. Howie was a kind, gentle, and thoughtful man. He never said an unkind word about anyone and treated all with respect, even if he did not agree with them. Ruth and Howie were both the best neighbors and the best of friends. As a single parent raising 3 children, Ruth and Howie helped me with hiding and wrapping Christmas gifts for my kids. They celebrated the New Year with me for many years. When a car or lawn mower broke down, Howie was there to fix it. When the basketball post started to fall over from being backed into too many times, Howie was there to fix it! When a door got locked from the inside with no one inside, it was Howie who knew what to do! Howie was my Super Man. The love, kindness and support both Ruth and Howie showed me and my children during their life in Wisconsin will NEVER be forgotten. I was lucky enough to have them very near for 20 years and to visit them in New Jersey. I send my love and condolences to all of the family, but especially to Ruthie.

The Yiddish word "Mensch" means a person of Integrity & Honor. Howie was ALL that & then some. Howie was ALWAYS helpful to a fault. Howie was a kind, compassionate, beautiful soul. He always saw the good in people & treated ALL with respect & honesty. Howie LOVED his wife Ruth, his son Michael, grandchildren & family along with his '55 Chevy that he lovingly restored, but didn't have a lot of time to enjoy, Howie was a GREAT friend who will be sorely missed for the "Mensch" he was...a man of Integrity &
Honor.
Love from his friend, Jake

They say you can count your true friends on one hand ,Howie certainly was just that a real friend who when he lived in Lakewood as my next door neighbor was always there to help whenever you needed a hand .Thankfully over the years my wife and I never lost touch with Ruth & Howie after they moved to Wisconsin and we even did make the trip out to see them on one occasion . After returning back to Jersey ,it was great to be able to visit on several occasions and keep the wonderful bond we had with both Howie& Ruth . The loss of such a dear friend cannot be explained with words ,the memories of such a long time friendship helps heal that loss .

I had the pleasure of working with Howard at Siemens X-Ray in Madison, WI from 1989 to 1994. We had many laughs. He could understand my puns. Howard and his wife, Ruth, offered me much hospitality during their time in Madison as well as a lot of help. Howard worked on my Ford Escort and helped me put my bike rack on my Toyota every summer, even storing it in his own basement. Howard and Ruth came with me when I bought my Toyota to be sure I would get fair treatment. Howard helped me with some practical things when I got my own apartment and bought my house. Howard went downhill skiing with my husband and me when my husband was going through a difficult time. Howard and Ruth went with my husband and me cross country skiing. They drove from New Jersey to Wisconsin when I had my 50th birthday celebration. Howard was a warm, kind, giving person who was good at fixing things. The world is a better place for having him in it. My last phrase is from a clever pun Howard made with a German co-worker at Siemens. Das ist alles.

Howie will ALWAYS be remembered as a genuine GOOD guy, GREAT friend & WONDERFUL husband father & grandfather.
He LOVED his '55 Chevy & we're happy he got to see it restored & have a few rides in it. Having green, plush lawns & perfectly pruned shrubbery in every house he & Ruth lived in was also his passion. His hands could fix just about anything. Howie, we hope you're "comfortable" now. Much love from your long time friends....Teena & Jake

I grew up living next to Ruth and Howie in Madison. As a kid, he would shake my hand and wiggle my arm until it almost fell off. I remember he was always willing and excited to help fix things on my car. He taught me how to tinker with things. He was always happy and generous.

Howie was one of my favorite storytellers, self deprecating and funny. soft-hearted and clever. His presence was a blessing. My condolences to Ruthie and family.

I will always remember whenever cousin Howie would tease me which was most of the time and would laugh after. He will be missed and always in my heart and memories.

Howie loved his cars with a passion, especially convertibles from the 1950's and 60's. His taste tended towards the 55 Chevy, the most classy car at that time. When Howie and Ruth relocated to Madison Wisconsin, the 55Chevy was packed up and shipped to Madison. Eventually age took its toll and the car was garaged when they moved back to NJ Eventually after much work the car was restored and Ruth and Howie had the best ride in town,

Uncle Howie was always bringing laughs and a fun time to be silly with family. He always knew how to put a smile on anyone’s face, especially after he got done with one of his goofy handshakes!

The best memory of Howie was when I took the 3 of them on a canoe trip. The water on the Toms River was a little high. We were almost at Rt. 37 when disaster hit. Howie was in the stern and missed a curve. We went under a tree and flipped. After we were all on the tree, Howie got the canoe out of the entanglement and we finished the trip with one paddle and a branch. The next day he bought his own canoe.
