Obituary of Jane Duryea
Jane Duryea, 88, a lifelong resident of Washington passed away peacefully on June 8, 2016 at Lopatcong Care Center.
Born on November 23. 1927 in Brooklyn, NY to the late William and Aldona Swift.
Jane graduated from Washington high school class of 1945. Jane married her soulmate Frank Duryea in 1945. Jane was a homemaker and she also helped her husband Frank operate Franks Gulf Gas & Service Station in Changewater, NJ. Her life was centered on sharing the love of Christ. She was a member and supporter of Teen Challenge Church in Rehrersburg, PA where she volunteered for over 35 years. She also volunteered at Hagedorn Hospital for over 30 years as well as the Washington Health Clinic. Jane and the Duryea family were known to help the less fortunate. Their home was always open and would regularly take in foreign families escaping Communism and war. Jane enjoyed knitting, reading, cooking and baking. She loved her family and cherished time spent with them.
She is survived by her loving husband of 71 years Frank; Daughters Barbara Rhinehart and her husband Charles, Michele Duch and her husband Brian; Sons William Duryea and his wife Susan, Dennis Duryea and his wife Alison, Alan Duryea and his wife Joan, Timothy Duryea and his wife Bonita and Daniel Duryea. A Brother Kenneth Swift. 24 Grandchildren; 43 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Great Grandchildren. Jane was preceded in death by a Brother Lawrence Swift.
Friends and family may pay their respects on Wednesday June 15, 2016 at 10;00 AM at the Faith Discovery Church. 33 Brass Castle Rd. Washington NJ 07882. A funeral service will be celebrated immediately following at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at Washington Cemetery.
